Discuss the ride of a lifetime.
Okay. I am selling a Schwinn bike...
for this guy. I feel the bike is not the greatest to be on eBay because if it's sold. How do you send it across country's? Anyway. How much would you buy a Schwinn bike and What website would you sell it on? I have been thinking of selling on Craiglist and Kijiji. Any other suggestions? Also, I think this bike is fine if you're into old-fashion and it could be a collector's item someday. I think. Just wondering what I should do and how I go about selling it on the computer.
What do you ride? And how much?
I just bought a 2010 Scott Speedster S60, after having ridden a Raleigh Marathon from the 80s and an X-Mart Schwinn. The difference is amazing. What do you ride? Also, I commute to and from work, so I put 42 miles every other week on the bike just doing that. Sunday will be my first ride and I'm pretty excited.^_^So, how do you ride?
Do you decorate your bike?
Have you ever decorated your bike and gone for a ride? Do you have a basket on your bike, or a rack? What kind of "custom extras" have you equipped your bike with? I just purchased an old schwinn for my girlfriend. I am wanting to decorate it up for her. Like a wicker basket on the front, maybe with a fake flower or two. I have also thought of tassles on the handlebars.

Economy going to crap? Not if your selling bikes!
The economy has gone for the most part sour. Gas prices going through the roof(along with most other prices) is causing US auto makers a lot of headaches. SUV's can't be given away! Car commuters are defiantly feeling the pain. * Souring gas prices are proving aboom to businesses selling bicycles. Electric bicycles are finding themselves in a bull market. The stores cannot keep stock on shelves. When people aren't buying bikes, they are taking old ones out of the shed for repair. * Electric bicycles are relatively cheap to buy compared to a car. Top of the line goes $4,000 brand new. Cars can't be looked at, even the econo-cheapo-cars, for less than $10,000 new. These little two wheelers with 'go' power are alsovery cheap to run. Improved batteries on some models can go 25 miles on a charge, further if the cyclist pedals to assist the battery. Schwinn claims the battery's good for 25 miles and can be recharged in as little as seven minutes using a commercial charger (about 30 minutes from an outlet). E-bikes don't require licenses to ride either as they are slower than a car or a moped. * The gas powered bicycles use gas by the teaspoon. Their...
Dare Devils Are Made, Not Born!
The beginning of a dare devil's career, I suspect begins when every child playing outside without parental supervision will attempt to perform a feat that will almost get them killed. There was a young man I regularly played outdoors with named Thomas Jones. His name was easy to remember, because it is also the name of a very popular singer who's name I can't recall. Thomas would get up early every summer morning to perform the stunt of the day on whatever medium he had available to him. Thomas, Myself and the fat kid that lived across the street from me, that we nick-named "Champ", would be the first ones up and out in the streets building bike ramps out of plywood and milk crates to see who can get the most air time with an old, heavy "Schwinn" boys bike without any brakes. Each of us would take turns, made the jump with the most awful noise of metal clanging and bike and rider running into nearby shrubbery as a means to stopping. This would go on for hours up until the plywood ramp breaks, which means in Latin, "find some other activity to do".I told you that story to tell you this story...My three miscreant friends and I would travel upon great places in...
Why do some people blame everyone else for their own mistakes? Warning Rant!
To all cry babies who think they deserve something for nothing! (the use of the word "You" does not mean the reader it is referring to the type of people who refuse to grow up and take responsibility for their actions.)I am so tired of hearing "I steal because society makes me." more like you are too lazy to get a job and be a productive citizen. There are so many ways to honesty make money these days pick one! I have had it with the people who think they are the entitled ones and don't want to take responsibility for the damage they cause. It seems like today's generation is being taught it's okay to hurt each other as long as you get what you want out of it, it's all good.If you get into an accident because you were drunk, high, speeding, or being wreckless, don't cry poor me because you wrecked your car pulling a foolish stunt and don't think your family now is responsible for making sure you get to work on time or is now your shuffer until you get mommy and daddy to buy you a new car. If you want to get to work on time, ride the bus. If you want to go to the corner store, walk. If you want your parents to buy you another mode of transportation, you better ask...
Why Use An Elliptical Trainer?
Elliptical trainers have been around long enough to become a mainstream piece of fitness equipment. Each year they increase in popularity. Many gyms and fitness centers now have as many or more elliptical trainers than they have treadmills. The best way to describe an elliptical trainer is to compare it to running on or in the air. Research shows that exercising on a good elliptical trainer is comparable to jogging in terms of energy expenditure and fitness benefit. All this with little or no impact to the body. Your back, knees, hips and feet are protected while you get full body workout.Using the handlebars on the elliptical trainer works the upper body in a similar manner as a Nordic Track exerciser, which of course mimics the upper body motion of cross-country skiing. This combination of upper and lower body workout is much more efficient. All this means that you burn more calories in a shorter period of time. Many trainers talk about the “Rate of perceived exercise” when they are discussing the benefits of using an elliptical trainer. This means that your mind and body do not realize that you are doing an intense workout. According to some people this makes the...
My former employer may become my new employer.
When I was 20 years old I worked for our local Dunkin Donuts. I would wake at 5:00 a.m., dress in my bright pink uniform, and ride my Schwinn bicycle to town. The ride took me about 20 minutes. The only time I really complained was when it was raining. I would carry my uniform in a plastic bag and put it under my raincoat. I had a clear umbrella that I put over my head and tucked the handle into my raincoat to keep it steady. What a sight that must have been to see me peddling my bike at 5:30 in the morning in the pouring rain with an umbrella over my head.Well, for those of you who don't know, I have been unemployed since September 2006. I have applied to numerous job openings without success. My brother works at Dunkin Donuts and told the manager that I was looking for work and that I had prior experience working at Dunkin Donuts. She said that I should come down and get an application. Hopefully they will give me the hours I need to work around my schedule as well. Sometimes they are willing to give you the hours you need to work. We shall see.Yes, it has been years since I was a Dunkin Dolly. I even have my old name tag. Maybe my former experiences will be what lands...
Do you ride a unicycle?
Last time I moved from one part of CA to another there was no room in the moving truck for my unicycle. I'm thinking of getting another one and some unicyclists I met recommended Torker unicycles. They got theirs on Ebay. So I went to Ebay and they look like a pretty good deal. Does anyone have any opinion about that brand? I've only heard of Schwinn and Semcycle. My last unicycle was an off brand, but I like the idea of having a quick release adjustable seatpost like the newer unicycles have.
