| electric bicycles | | After looking at countless electric bicycles on the internet, I think the one I want is an IZip Electric Commuter bicycle. It is a step-through (which is absolutely necessary for me), has a "trunk", a front basket, and pretty much everything I could want. Or so it appears. What I want to know from you is your opinion of this or any other electric bicycle, where I could possibly get a used one (the cost of a new one is $699),is there anywhere in St. Louis that sells them, and anything else you might add. I'd appreciate any info or input. Thanks. | |
| | What do you think of electric bicycles? | | I have an electric bicycle,I'm a teacher in a training school and I use it when I have lessons on weekends. it always takes me half an hour to go there by electric bike. I drive it fast on the way and sometimes I just don't have enough time to see what are around,so sometimes I was nearly having accidents.
I can clearly remember the man driving electric bike between two cars and unlucky to be pushed onto the center part of the road ---died within just two seconds!the whole thing is: People in the car on right side opened the door on the left side without looking around and, it was the lead of the whole accident--the man drived the bike fast from the back and was hit by the door and quickly pushed aside to the road centre...we know both of them take half responsibilities here--but,should the electric bicycle here be blamed? | |
| | Guys, does your wife drive? | | Does your wife drive or are you just the 'taxi' driver? My wife does not drive and although I worship her I do find it a bit of a chore having to take her into town just to get a couple of odds and ends. I end up sitting in the car listening to the radio which I suppose is not a bad thing. I am relaxing. But sometimes it is frustrating when there are other things to do, (Do I sound if I'm complaining ....... No!)But when she had the opportunity to learn to drive back in the 50's although she had a few driving lessons she never did make up her mind to go for her test. She has just asked me to run her in town as its snowing (not like in Canada I'm glad to say) and although we have an electric bike she can't go out on that.Anyway, must do as I'm told. | |

| Banning electric bikes cannot be justified | | What is the best way to get around town driving a car or riding a bicycle? Cars are convenient but expensive, polluting the atmosphere and causing traffic jams in crowded cities. Bikes are clean and cost much less, but cycling can be very tiring. There is a good alternative to cars and bikes the electric bicycle, which runs on a lead-acid battery. It is faster than an ordinary bike. Although it costs more than a conventional bike, it is still only a fraction of the price of a car. Riding an electric bicycle instead of driving a car saves energy at a time when consumption of petroleum is soaring as the economy continues to romp forwards. The bikes have become popular among commuters whose trips have got longer as cities sprawl. Enthusiasts include delivery and salespeople who have to criss-cross communities daily and elderly cyclists running low on pedal power. They all want a faster, easier ride that a conventional bike cannot give them. Convenience and necessity have kick-started China's electric bike market. Last year, 7 million such bikes were sold nationwide, making China the leading country on the electric two-wheelers with 15 million in... | |
